The Procedure for Dental Implants

The dental implant process begins with an initial consultation where the dentist will evaluate your oral and overall health to determine your eligibility for the procedure. If you are a candidate, our dentist will take X-rays of your mouth and create a treatment plan. 

Next, our dentist in Nevada, MO, will surgically place the implant into the jawbone. This surgery is performed under local anesthesia or sedation to ensure comfort. After placement, the bone around the implant will be left to heal and fuse with the implant through osseointegration. This process can take several months to complete.

Once healing is complete, the dentist will place an abutment on the implant. An abutment is a connector piece that holds the new tooth in place. Then, an impression is taken of the abutment and surrounding teeth and sent to a lab where the permanent crown is made.

When the crown is done, our dentist will fit it to the abutment and make any necessary adjustments before securing it permanently. Depending on the patient's oral health, the entire process can take up to a year or longer. However, once complete, your new smile will be strong and durable for years!
