Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are used when you still have some natural teeth remaining in your upper or lower jaw. They are removable appliances that replace missing teeth. They consist of artificial teeth that are attached to a gum-colored base. Our dentist in Nevada, MO, designs the base to fit snugly against your gums. Metal clasps that fit around your natural teeth hold partial dentures in place.

Full Dentures

Complete dentures are used when all your teeth are missing from your upper or lower jaw. These dentures are also removable and consist of artificial teeth attached to an acrylic base. The base is designed to look like your natural gums. Complete dentures are held in place with suction to your gums.

Caring for Your Dentures

Cleaning your dentures daily will help keep them looking their best. It would help if you brushed them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a non-abrasive toothpaste. Be sure to clean all the denture surfaces, including the underside. Rinse the dentures thoroughly before placing them in a soaking solution overnight.

In addition to cleaning your dentures daily, you should remove them every night before bed. This will give your mouth a chance to rest from the pressure of the appliance. It will also allow your gums to recover from any irritation caused by the dentures.

When you remove your dentures at night, place them in a safe container filled with water or a denture cleaning solution. This will help prevent them from drying out and becoming brittle.
